Draft Recommendations on BPA's Future Role

The Council released for public comment its recommendations on the Bonneville Power Administration's role in power supply.

Latest Developments on 2000 Biological Opinion Remand

  • NOAA Fisheries will produce a revised draft BiOp once the collaboration with states and tribes is completed.
  • After a 70-day period to allow for consultation with fish and wildlife managers, the agency will release the final BiOp.
  • Until then, the 2000 Biological Opinion remains in effect.

Power Plan Identifies More Conservation

Summary: As part of the development of the Council's Fifth Power Plan, analysis has identified an additional 2,800 average megawatts of cost-effective conservation can be achieved by 2025.

Detail: Tom Eckman, conservation resources manager, briefed Council members on conservation and its potential as a resource.  The region has developed about 2,600 average megawatts of conservation since passing the Northwest Power Act in 1980. See presentation (1.8m PDF).

Revised Draft Proposal for 2004 Federal Summer Spill and Reservoir Operations to be Released Week of April 12; Final Decision to be Made Later in the Month

Greg Delwiche, Bonneville Power Administration, presented the 2004 summer spill, reservoir operations, and biological offsets proposal to Council members.
